Next week the HBB will host BACK-TO-BACK graduate student shows.
Standard Deviation is a one woman exploration of fragmented memories through the lens of jazz. Does being the outlier mark error, or is there freedom in the dissonance?
Standard Deviation is to be immediately followed by The Things We Carry.
You lost another game. It says, ‘game over,’ & you restart a life. But in what other ways does death permeate our lives? How many times do we die before we stop dying? The Things We Carry explores Death, sometimes scary and sad, sometimes funny and heartwarming, and connects these parts to explore the common experiences we will share with one another. Imagine the worlds we’ll rewrite, & the possibilities of new life, all with a roll of the dice.
Performances are at 7:30 Wednesday- Saturday with a Sunday matinee at 2:30.
Come play with us👯♀️🎲🎯

Coming next week!
HUMANINALIA by Vince LiCata
This performance-lecture asks how different humans really are from other animals. Current research on animal cognition, evolution, and communication is explored through storytelling, lecture, tiny puppetry, scary animal drag, poorly sung songs, and the music of Morrissey. This is not a children’s show, suggested age range is 13+ due to some discussion of animals in distress.

On Tuesday (9/30), the HBB has the privilege to host Dr. Heidi Rose (Villanova University) for the 4th Annual Place of Performance lecture.
Dr. Rose’s talk—“On Being a ‘Good Thief’s Adaptation and How Performance Helps Me Live”—explores her experience creating performance as no less than a life-giving, and life-sustaining, enterprise. Braiding three moments—her work with ASL poetry, adaptation and staging of the novel “Parakeet,” and recent intertextual performance “Between Girls…Absent and Present”—Dr. Rose recounts her approach to adapting texts for audiences, amplifying what it means to be a “good thief.”
It’s going to be a great time; come and see it at 7:30pm!
