Communication Outcomes Research Lab of LSU
Directed by Dr. Neila Donovan, CCC-SLP, the Communication Outcomes Research Lab (COR) aims to serve adults with communication disorders.
Calling all members of the COR and/or Dr. D's former students!!! ASHA is in NOLA this year. Let's have a Communication Outcomes Research Lab of LSU/COMD Reunion. My retirement in 2021 was a real non-event due to COVID. I am hoping that if you live in or around NOLA and/or attending ASHA you will mark your calendar for a meet-up with Dr. D and friends. We will be at Luke New Orleans, 333 St. Charles Ave. https://www.lukeneworleans.com/ on Wednesday, November 16th anytime after 5:00. They are known for their wonderful Happy Hour Specials. I know people are flung far and wide but would love to see y'all!

Tonight I finished my last class at LSU. COMD 7780 is a seminar "Exploring TBI Cognitive-Communication Deficits from a Life Course Perspective." These 8 students will graduate in about a week and then be ready to take on the world of Communication Disorders. They made my last semester teaching totally awesome!

BIG COR KUDOS to Barnali Mazumdar who defended her dissertation with flying colors Thursday 4/22/21. Her tenacity and intellect are amazing! Her dissertation is titled "Identifying A Culturally Appropriate Stimulus For The Bangla Picture Description Task." Yes you read it right. Dr. Mazumdar plans to create the first aphasia assessment that is culturally- and language-specific for Bangla Speakers. Because of COVID this ended up being an international research project with data collecters and Kolkata, India guided by Dr. Mazumdar here in the US. This project took a village and we could not have been done without our awesome COR LAB volunteers Arib, Sam, and Holly. Congratulations Dr. Mazumdar!!!
Hey everyone, March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. My seminar class developed these 4 awesome PSAs about different aspects of brain injury. They are only 2 minutes each. Check them out and share with others. Hopefully we've shined a little more light on the invisible disability--TBI!
Hope people can tune in to hear Dr. Nakkawita’s talk. Big COR Kudos to everyone in the COR lab who had a hand in this project and Dr Hartzheim for her expertise!

This is really important. Know STROKE SIGNS AND ACT FAST. there are treatments for strokes caused by clots if you get to the hospital quickly.
Young and middle-aged people, barely sick with covid-19, are dying of strokes Doctors sound alarm about patients in their 30s and 40s left debilitated or dead by strokes. Some didn’t even know they were infected by coronavirus.
