Congratulations to Jeff Parish! Excited that Louisiana now has a Class 3 CRS community.
Starting Oct. 1, 2025, unincorporated Jefferson Parishโs National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System rating will increase from a Class 5 to a Class 3, becoming the first CRS Class 3 in Louisiana, and joining one of only 11 Class 3s in the United States. This new rating will provide residents with a 35 percent discount on their flood insurance, which will automatically be applied to premiums upon renewal for NFIP-backed flood insurance policyholders.
The NFIP is managed by FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency and is delivered to the public by a network of more than 50 insurance companies and the NFIP Direct. The NFIP provides flood insurance to property owners, renters and businesses, and having this coverage helps them recover faster when floodwaters recede. The CRS program rewards participating communities for implementing floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum requirements of the NFIP; these rewards are in the form of flood insurance discounts. Jefferson Parish communities see over $12 million in flood insurance savings annually through its CRS activities.
