Jennie’s student Emily is performing in SJA/CHS Drama Club🎭 Talent Night this weekend and we couldn’t be more excited for her!

We are THRILLED to welcome our newest associate teacher Callie to the team! Callie will be teaching lessons in a Southdowns location on Fridays and Saturdays. Head to our website to learn more and sign up for your 30 minute discovery session.

Callie is a diligent music educator as well as a passionate musician who graduated from Louisiana State University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting.

She is the current Music Teacher at Trinity Episcopal Day School, where she teaches grades Prek-5th grade. Callie is known for her engaging and varied lesson plans and effective classroom management skills.

When she is not teaching, Callie is also highly involved in the Baton Rouge musical theatre community, where she has performed in various shows. You may have seen her as Margo Crawford in Ascension Community Theatre’s production of Bright Star. She has also performed at the Sullivan Theatre as Laurey Williams in Oklahoma!, and at Theatre Baton Rouge (now Mid City Civic Theatre) as Melpomene in Xanadu and Ensemble in Waitress. She has also competed in the Advanced Musical Theatre category at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Southern Region & Louisiana Conference, where she has placed first three times.

Callie is an active member of the LSU Musical Theatre Club and is honored to serve her community at her alma mater. She is passionate about fostering the club’s continued growth and development, both on and off the stage. She has served as music director for High School Musical On Stage!, Mean Girls, and the club’s end-of-year r***e, Singeaux. She also directed and choreographed their production of Falsettos, and in the 2026-2027 season, Callie will return as music director for Ride the Cyclone and Hairspray, while also directing Singeaux.

Known for creating a positive, safe, and inclusive rehearsal environment, Callie strives to ensure that every performer feels supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work.

We often use the Pan African flag colors when celebrating Juneteenth but it is important to note that Juneteenth does indeed have a flag representing Black Americans and the acknowledging that slaves and their descendants are American. No freedom till all are free 1865.

The Juneteenth flag is red, white, and blue to reflect that enslaved Black people were—and are—Americans. The colors match the U.S. flag to remind us that freedom was delayed, not denied. While the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, millions of Black Americans didn’t taste true freedom until June 19, 1865. The Juneteenth flag honors that truth.
