New research reinforces an important message: bladder health is connected to whole-body health.

A recent study found that better cardiovascular health was associated with a lower likelihood of overactive bladder symptoms. The factors studied included physical activity, diet, healthy weight, sleep, avoiding ni****ne, and optimizing blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.

This reflects a recurring theme in urology: improving overall health may also improve urologic health. That includes overactive bladder and urinary symptoms, as well as sexual health, erectile function, energy, and testosterone-related concerns.

Medications and procedures can be important, but they are often only part of the solution. A comprehensive plan should also address the foundations: move more, eat well, sleep adequately, manage blood pressure and blood sugar, maintain a healthy weight, and avoid to***co.

Healthy body. Healthier bladder. Better sexual health. Better quality of life.

Harvest the Day

We are in fall. Not midday.

Think of the year like a single day: spring is morning, summer is midday, fall is evening, and winter is rest. Midday is built for output—long hours, constant motion, growth, and getting things done. But evening calls for a different rhythm. It is time to take stock, gather what has grown, and prepare for restoration.

Fall is not a failure to maintain summer’s pace. It is the natural next phase.

Harvest what is already working: better sleep, stronger relationships, consistent health habits, meaningful work, and the wins you have already earned. These are not small things. They are the yield of the effort you put in during the busier seasons.

For many men, evening is also when the cost of an all-day summer pace becomes clear. Sleep debt, accumulated stress, late work, late fluids, alcohol, screens, and nighttime urination can collide just when the body is asking to downshift. The result is often fragmented sleep, lower energy, irritability, and the sense that there is never quite enough time to recover.

You do not have to keep spending July energy in October.

This week, notice one part of your life you may still be treating like summer. Is it your work schedule? Your training routine? Your evenings? Your expectations of yourself? Consider what it would look like to shift from pushing to harvesting—to protect what is working rather than constantly demanding more.

Be measured. Be present. Be HOL.
