Custom woodcraft and laser engraving by Hugo Andricain

06/24/2025

My luggage tags broke on a trip last week so I decided to make my own replacements!

If you are interested in some custom luggage tags, these are 4" x 2.5" faux leather tags. Setup and 2 tags for $20.00 and additional (identical) tags for $5.00 while my supply of blanks lasts.

If you want a full custom design for your family/trip/wedding party etc., I can do that for additional design charges.

How it started through the finished piece. A new dining table for some dear friends. Solid white oak top finished with Rubio Monocoat Havana. Looks amazing in its new home!

Open Studio tour today on Broussard Street. Come see us and Jewel of Havana in one stop! Look for the balloons on Broussard between Acadian and SJA!

A really special project that I’ve wanted to do for a few years. This is a new altar for Masses at St. Joseph’s Academy. We needed a larger and portable altar especially for graduation. I designed it to break down and built a cart to make it easier for our maintenance team to move. It is built out of the old library bookshelf supports.

Bishop Duca blessed it at our celebration of the feast of St Joseph. After applying a final finish, it was used again for Senior Mass. I have to admit, I’m proud of the way this turned out. Hopefully, this is still used at SJA long after I’m gone.

Just had a fun idea. If your kid hand wrote a Christmas list, let's turn it into an ornament for next year!

As much as possible, I use reclaimed wood in my projects. I get a lot of joy from taking something that was headed to a landfill and turning into something new.

This piece is a logo/sign I designed for some dear friends’ new camp. The original design had some waves at the bottom. When I milled and jointed this pallet wood, I noticed how the grain looked like water. That isn’t stain or lasered graphics - just the markings in the wood. The beauty of nature made me change the design. It is so cool! I almost hate to let it go but I’m fairly confident I’ll get invited over enough to get to appreciate it in its new home!

Exciting day yesterday. Stugo’s Workshop shipped its first paid order. Thanks Amanda!

I’m grateful for the several orders and inquiries that are in process. Thanks for all the likes, follows and shares. I’m looking forward to seeing how this “side hustle” grows.

Call me optimistic, but we bought a truck (a VERY used truck) yesterday! Ready to haul lumber and not get in trouble for the sawdust in the vehicle.

If you had told me as a kid that I would grow up to play with lasers, this isn’t quite what I would have thought it would be. Still, it’s pretty darn cool to create designs and burn them into existence! Pew! Pew! Pew!
