I am spreading the word that I am now full time with my outpatient practice and am again accepting new patients. For the past few years, I was in somewhat of a holding pattern where I was too busy with contract work to continue to accept new patients. Outpatient work has always been my passion, and I had always wanted to transition to exclusively that kind of work. This December, I decided to "take the leap." Things sort of came together, and the timing was perfect. We have been very fortunate that we have literally been able to grow from a 15 hour per week part time practice to a 40 hour per week practice overnight. We still have plenty of room to grow however. Currently, we accept Blue Cross, Cigna, and Medicare. Our private pay rates are competitive based on the current market, and we can also provide documentation that patients may use to file with their insurances independently. I tend to be very thorough, and our appointments are longer than the industry standard. For example, our initial evaluations are at least one hour, and our follow up visits are 30 minutes. My approach is rooted in a combination of evidence based practice and common sense. If someone is skeptical about mental health treatment in general, I would probably be an excellent person for them to see. I am pretty strait forward in my approach, and I provide extensive education so that patients can truly be active partners in their treatment. As of now, we can typically get new patients in within a one to two week time frame. This is very unusual for a reputable Psychiatrist that accepts some insurances, and it is only because I tripled my time allotted to the clinic overnight.
