Presenting Lord Benedict! 👑 This four-month-old Domestic Short Hair came to PetWellClinic – Highland Park last month to start his Kitten Package — and he handled the whole visit with the dignity his name demands.

Kitten Packages bundle the vaccines, deworming, and preventatives your new little one needs through those first months, so nothing gets missed along the way.

👑🐾 BARKTOBERFEST — Sunday, October 4 · 1–4 PM · Rally Cap Brewing Co.

An Oktoberfest afternoon at Rally Cap, and every bit of it is for the shelter dogs of Baton Rouge. Barktoberfest is a fundraiser and adoption event for CAAWS — the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society — and the main event is the costume contest.

Costume Contest · 3:30 PM · five awards
Best in Show · Best Individual Costume · Best Group (dogs and/or owners) · runners-up in both categories. Over $900 in prizes across the board.

Entry is a $10 donation and every dollar of it goes to CAAWS. Registration closes at 3:15, so come early, get your dog signed up, and let them hold court.

CAAWS is also bringing adoptable pups — meet them at 2:00. Somebody's dog is going to walk out of this event with a family, and it could be yours.

And if your dog's talent runs more toward the ridiculous than the regal, Stupid Pet Tricks is at 2:30. One award, Best Trick, $10 to enter, registration closes at 2:15. Sit pretty, roll over, speak, high five — if it makes the crowd laugh, it qualifies.

Go follow every one of them, and go spend money with them. They showed up for the shelter animals of this city.

🐾 Furry Friend Feature: Charley 🐾

That fluff. Those eyes. That whole gentle-giant energy... 😍🐶

Meet Charley, a stunning 5-year-old Newfoundland who stopped by PetWellClinic Highland Park — and at nearly 150 pounds, she's easily one of the biggest patients we've had walk through our doors! 💙

Newfies are famous for being big-hearted, mellow, and endlessly patient, and Charley is no exception. She settled right in like she owned the place. 🐾

Big dogs come with big-dog considerations, too — joint health, weight management, and keeping an eye on the heart all matter more as the giant breeds age. Regular wellness exams are how we stay ahead of it, so gentle giants like Charley keep feeling their best for years to come.

Thank you to Charley's family for bringing this sweet girl in to see us. She made our whole day! 🐾
