Today, we celebrated Mother Joan Weber and her retirement from St. James Place.
Mother Joan has been such a meaningful part of our community, and while we are so happy to celebrate this next chapter with her, we will certainly miss her presence, care, and ministry at St. James Place.
As we say thank you and farewell to Mother Joan, we are also excited to welcome Father Patrick Edwards, who will be taking over as our chaplain.

We are proud to celebrate the first team members selected to receive the St. James Place CNA Scholarship in partnership with Baton Rouge Community College.
At St. James Place, we believe in supporting and encouraging our team members as they pursue their personal and professional goals. The St. James Place CNA Scholarship Program is one way we are investing in the success of our team while helping strengthen the healthcare workforce in the Baton Rouge community.
Through this partnership with BRCC, scholarship recipients will complete six weeks of on-site Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training at Baton Rouge Community College, followed by a week of clinical training at St. James Place. This unique opportunity combines classroom education with hands-on experience in a senior living environment.
We are grateful to Baton Rouge Community College for being a valued educational partner and for its commitment to working with local employers to create opportunities for individuals to learn, grow, and succeed.

St. James Place was transported straight back to the fabulous 1950s for a very special celebration - our Birthday Sock Hop celebrating 14 residents who turn 90 years old in 2026! They dressed to impress in their best 50s-inspired outfits, and a real jukebox kept the party rocking with classic tunes. The menu was just as nostalgic, featuring hot dogs, sloppy joes, cake, and root beer floats. Here’s to 14 amazing residents, 90 incredible years, and countless memories still to come!

We were thrilled to welcome LSU Women’s Basketball Coach Kim Mulkey yesterday to St. James Place, where she brought her energy, personality, and plenty of fun to our residents as she called Celebrity Bingo! Our residents had an unforgettable time enjoying bingo, laughter, and a very special opportunity to spend time with one of Louisiana’s most beloved coaches. Thank you, Coach Mulkey, for spending time with us and making the day so memorable! We’re grateful for your generosity and for the joy you brought to St. James Place.
