This is an initiative that I championed. Later start times are proven to improve outcomes for our children, the data is very clear. I look forward to expanding this successful pilot program.

In August, the East Baton Rouge Parish School District launched new start times for six schools in the district.

At the end of last night’s school board meeting, I made a snarky remark about the absence of my colleague, Dadrius Lanus. I am sorry for making that comment. It was inappropriately flippant, and did not add anything positive to our collective work on behalf of the students in our city. I will work to be more aware and thoughtful before speaking in the future.
