Molly Milligan Bowling
St. Joseph’s Academy Class of 2026

Last weekend was a busy weekend. It started off with High School State Singles, and Saturday was the State Pepsi Tournament. During High School State Singles, I started off strong with a 204 the first game, the second game was a 202, and I had a good game going in the third, but I couldn’t stay ahead of the transition and I split twice. My series was a 583, and the qualifying cut-off was 608. There were a lot of girls that bowled very well that day, and I’m happy I averaged a 194. Saturday was the State Pepsi Tournament at Bowlero in Kenner. The conditions were tougher, being a sport shot pattern, and the scores were lower. I qualified for Sunday in 6th place with a 697 for four games. The finals on Sunday were a double elimination, and I finished 7th/8th. I didn’t bowl great, but I was happy to make it to the finals and spend time with some of the seniors that are leaving this year. It was a really fun weekend, and I wish I would’ve done better, but overall I’m happy with my performance.

I'm a little behind on posting this, but on the weekend of January 25-26, I competed in the Annual Louisiana Grand Prix Youth Tournament. There are 3 rounds of five games each, with the top 8 in my division moving on to the finals. I managed to be the top qualifier in the first round with a 792 series. I was a top 5 qualifier overall. I was feeling pretty good about the lanes and the way I was rolling the ball. The finals were double elimination, and I was going up against some of the best U18 girls in the state. I ended up finishing second. I had a great time and was able to bowl with some great people. I look forward to next year's tournament.

Last weekend, I competed in the Gulf Coast Road 2 Junior Gold Stop #3 in Mobile, AL. I started with a rough 92 but bounced back with two 190 games, which got me into third place for the elimination round. I ended up finishing second overall, even with some tough splits. I learned to not give up after one bad game. I'm looking forward to improving for the next tournaments!

I bowled my new high game, a 298. I was so close to my first 300, but I saw my score and I got nervous. It was a learning experience, I should have stopped and taken a moment to collect myself, but I didn't. Now that I know what it feels like, hopefully I’ll be better prepared next time.

I competed in the Annual Capital City Strike Out tournament on August 31st and September 1st, bowling four games across two patterns. Qualifying began on Bourbon Street, followed by a break, and concluded on Big Ben. Although I initially struggled on Bourbon Street, I raised my scores on the Big Ben pattern, qualifying sixth and advancing to Sunday's competition. The double-elimination finals tested my stamina, with each match consisting of two games and the highest combined score advancing. I finished fourth, had a great time, and learned new techniques to improve my bowling.

Last weekend, I participated in the Pepsi Tournament at Bowlero Kenner, where I bowled 4 games to qualify for the next day. During the qualifying round, I struggled with my accuracy and spare conversions. Despite not performing at my best, I qualified for Sunday's competition. I was grateful for the opportunity to improve my performance from the previous day. On Sunday, I bowled much better to finish in 4th place. Overall, it was a great learning experience and I was happy to have the chance to compete against some of the best bowlers in the area.

Today I participated in the Tulane Bowling Elite Tournament Prep Camp, which was led by Coach Hayley Veitch, Coach Norm Spurlock and Coach Todd Bourgeois. During both of the sessions I learned ways improve my spare game and improve lane play. Seeing myself bowl from other angles was so helpful, I was able to see what I was doing wrong and fix it. I had a lot of fun and learned so much!! I can’t wait apply the techniques I learned and see the improvement in my game!
Thank you for having me!
