This evening's Sunset, the last bit of sunlight from the first "real" day of Summer 😃

STARCAST - Summer Solstice! (6/21) | The longest day of 2026 is here with sunset occurring at 8:10 pm CDT this evening. Our total day length will be about 14 hours, give or take a few minutes.
This is caused by the tilt of our planet, which, in today's case, we have reached the maximum tilt towards the sun, a whopping 23.5°. That tilt can be seen in the day-night line in today's GOES-East full disk image. This milestone kicks off Summer astronomically; Meteorological Summer began on June 1st.
For those who are big fans of the cooler months, this means that after today, we will begin slowly tilting away from the sun until we reach the Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice. For those like me who can't stand the cold, don't worry, we have a whole lot of summer and sunshine left to go.

This is absolutely not what we want to see right now happening in Northern Pointe Coupee Parish.
A slow moving storm will continue through the area tonight. Radar estimates are showing just over an inch has fallen in the last hour south of Simmesport on LA-1.
WOW - I think it's safe to say there was a bit of lightning with that storm.
