GM! I just listened to an interview from Sarah Jakes Roberts and something she said really stuck with me.
She talked about how once you’ve hit rock bottom, you have a choice: you can stay there emotionally—bracing for impact so you never have to feel that kind of fall again—or you can let go of the shame, work through the hurt, and realize that once you’ve survived your lowest, every season that feels like failure isn’t as devastating as it once seemed.
It made me reflect on how much real generational trauma exists around “the fall” in families—the shame, the hurt, the disappointment, the blame, and the ways we each individually learned to cope with hard things. Sometimes we stay in survival mode because of what happened to us, or what we watched happen around us.
But for me, healing has made me more aware, more accountable, and honestly more comfortable in who I am. It’s brought me closer to peace. And I’m choosing to believe this: if I’ve already survived hard seasons, there is nowhere to go but up.
So this is just encouragement for all of us: no matter what has historically felt like rock bottom, we cannot spend our lives bracing for impact or living on defense. That energy keeps us stuck. Healing teaches us that survival is proof. We’ve already lived through the hard part.
Now? We build. We rise. We believe again. 🤍
