This will be my 1st time not being about to go to the Capital for Black Maternal Health Week due to class. 🤦🏽‍♀️ BUT!

This week is about elevating black mama voices, expanding high quality care across America, incorporating cultures & elevating our communities!

We’re all fighting for black mamas in our own ways and communities! Every step we take in our community is a step closer towards expansion. For the past 4 years at the Capital each bill is set to elevate the voices and experiences of birthing people in Louisiana, but we know black mothers are more vulnerable and we’ve lead the fight for this reason.

If you can’t make it out there today that’s okay! There’s virtual ways to support. Follow to find creative ways to support the movement!

There’s more than one way to advocate for our communities in the Birthwork world!

March 2021 ✨ No clients just passion and little locs! lol I became a doula, because those who knew me and were expecting wanted me to support them during their pregnancy and birth beyond education. Many women would come to me for advice or guidance and that’s literally where it started. We started Maternal Love in 2019 and been rollin’ since!

To every family that have allowed me to be apart of your journey, I promise I don’t take it for granted & cherish each moment. Maternal Love

Happy Black Doula Day ✨😌🌻

Where we started 😂!! We had an LLC, heart, passion, a vision, no clients, no website, no money and in need of more training/certifications 😰. Cheers to 7 years in business this month! Excited to see where we go this year!

Back story: The little girl in the next picture is where it all started!

The countdown to 100! I’ve assisted 89 families in the delivery space. We’ve assisted many other families prenatally and during the postpartum period, but this number focuses on in person labor support by Ashaki only! Super excited and curious to see which Little Baby Love will be number 100! Follow our journey on the road to 100 BIRTHS!

First time mom? 💗
It’s normal to feel excited, overwhelmed, wondering if you’re making the right choices or checking items of your to do list! However, I just want to speak on adding a doula to your birthing team.

Doula’s are not just a luxury extra to your birthing plan. Doulas play an essential role in providing you with continuous education, support and information during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum time. Ultimately, ensuring you are mentally, emotionally and as close as possible to being physically ready to meet your baby and the life that follows after that! Our goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and supported as you prepare to meet your baby.

Trust and rapport with you and your family are built leading up to the delivery. Birth is a very sacred space and a moment you won’t forget. You want to ensure you take the time to do consultations with multiple doulas to ensure the doula you select is the right fit for your family, values, culture and beliefs!

With love & care,
Ashaki 💗
