Hey everyone! I am so excited about the turnout and support from everyone. I do have a plan B in case the weather is uncooperative. It will be at the high school in the Fieldhouse if needed. Please keep checking this page for updates. I will give a definite location by tomorrow morning.

Hi, my name is Claire VanTreeck. I am currently a senior at Batavia High School, BHS. I am organizing a 5k Fun Run/Walk/Roll where the proceeds benefit the Vocational Transition Program (VTP) at the high school. The VTP is a cross-categorical, instructional program for students with intellectual disabilities or Autism. The program offers a small, structured classroom with an emphasis on functional academics, life skills, social and pragmatic language skills. This is my second year working with this program during my gym classes and I see how amazing these students are. I chose to create this run to raise both awareness of and funds for this program. During my Topics in Literature & Composition class we were assigned to create a "genius project" - something that we would not ordinarily do because of time and training. (Examples of other projects were learning a new language, teaching yourself magic tricks or creating a website to post your comic strip.) I have a strong belief in community service and feel a calling to help others. For the past couple years I have thought about creating a run but did not have the right program until I started with the VTP. Please visit the website link below and feel free to share!
