Tempranillo Restaurant has welcomed patrons into the storied historic space for two decades, making it not only a dining destination but a living part of Basalt’s heritage. We honored the legacy and old-world charm of the 1896 historic building – once a hotel next to the old train station, and now, a restaurant next to the local bank – by keeping the original bar from the 1800s of carved wood, green marble and mirrored back wall intact. Tempranillo’s dining rooms, fireplaces, historic bar and community table offer warm, inviting atmosphere that reflect a blend of the building’s deep history and contemporary comfort.

Executive Chef Javier Gonzalez-Bringas moved to the U.S. from Madrid in 1979, blending his talents for Spanish cooking with inventive nouveau Italian cuisine at Manhattan’s Mezzaluna Restaurant. His love of the Spanish way of life is apparent from the many fresh and aged Spanish imports adding special flavors to the menu, the exquisite wine list, and details like this warming the space and transporting you to another culture during your visit.
