Living Large In A Small House

Spring has arrived at my house, and I am HERE for it! 🌿🐰

I just published my Spring Home Tour on the blog, and I’m so excited to finally share a kitchen wall that got a major upgrade—an old desk area transformed into a coffee station, baking station, and open shelving display that makes me smile every single time I walk in. ✨

But that’s not all that got the spring treatment around here! The living room is feeling fresh and airy with new floral drapes, a new sisal rug, and bunnies tucked into every corner. 🌸

The dining room is giving full Peter Rabbit vibes with a whimsical tablescape that I absolutely loved putting together.

For years our family of five lived in just over 1,300 square feet. At times it felt cozy, at times a little crowded, but looking back I wouldn’t change a thing. That little house held school mornings, holidays around the table, late night talks, and so many everyday moments that became memories.

Now that our kids are grown, our home finally feels exactly right. And it’s made me realize something… living large has very little to do with square footage.

More and more people are choosing smaller homes, not because they have to, but because they want a simpler life, less maintenance, and a home that truly fits the season they’re in.

I just shared a new post about the real benefits of downsizing and what living in a smaller home has taught me over the years.

It turns out a small house can hold a very full life.

Every spring I start watching the trees and checking the migration maps waiting for that first flash of orange. It’s one of my favorite signs that the seasons are changing again.

Around here in northern Illinois, I put my oriole feeders out in early April so they’re ready when the birds arrive. And almost every year, they show up right on cue.
