Wishing all of our alumnx, friends, and community partners a happy start of the new school year! I'm delighted to be able to announce that the Maine Delegation to the New England Board of Higher Education has selected Maine's educator preparation programs, including COA's, to receive the 2023 New England Higher Education Excellence Award for our "notable contributions to the State, to K-12 learning and to the educator workforce." As the NEBHE letter states, this "award recognizes individuals, institutions, and initiatives that have made substantive contributions to the New England states and that improve higher education opportunities for students." Congratulations to all of our dedicated, insightful and equity-minded colleagues in the Maine educator preparation programs who, like us, are working hard to prepare a diverse educator workforce well prepared to inspire, support, and challenge all students in our public schools during a time of poly-crises--public health, environmental, political, and cultural. We are humbled to be in the company of such visionary professional educators.
