Kenduskeag Stream Trail
The Kenduskeag Stream Trail starts in Downtown Bangor and continues 2 miles north along the rocky banks of the stream.
The Kenduskeag Stream Trail is a scenic walking path stretching 2 miles out from the heart of Downtown Bangor. The trail follows the rocky banks of the stream past gorgeous views and historic sites. It's a quiet, natural oasis in one of Maine's largest cities. The trail is maintained by the City of Bangor Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of the Lower Kenduskeag Stream (FOLKS). This page is operated by FOLKS and not officially affiliated with the City of Bangor.
Gorgeous weather to be on the today!

This past year, we made a big push to control invasive species on the Kenduskeag Stream Trail.
We completed an Invasive Plant Control Practice Plan which documented the type, density, and location of invasive species along the trail, hired a licensed professional to begin treatment, and planted nearly 200 native trees and shrubs to restore native habitat in treated areas.

There's a statewide campaign underway recognizing this week as Invasive Species Awareness Week. Invasive species threaten human health, native plants, fish, wildlife and agricultural systems because there are no checks and balances on their growth.
The City of Bangor and the state Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry encourage people to take practical steps to reduce the risk of spreading an invasive species, such as by not transporting firewood into or around .
More details on invasive threats to Maine's forests and trees can be found here: https://www.maine.gov/dacf/mfs/forest_health/invasive_threats/index.htm

Testing the salinity of the Kenduskeag at low and high tide in case watering our plants with it is a bad idea. Good news, it’s fine!

It may have rained today, but just .2 inches, so volunteers were out watering our drought stressed native edible food forest we planted this spring.
