Every year I try to think of a fun phrase to put on my birthday ice cream cake that will take me through the next year. This year it was a no-brainer.

When a mom tells me that her son’s Angel Tree ask wasn’t met and that he’s obsessed with being a detective, I get to work. Found a free deerstalker cap pattern online and the perfect vintage wool in my fabric stash. 🕵🏻🔎

Update: Thanks to your incredible generosity I was just able to send $1250 to my student’s Venmo. She is overwhelmed with gratitude and wanted me to let all of you know that her daughter has been begging for frozen fruit for smoothies and now they’ll get to make them tonight. I’ve been in contact with her other teachers and we’re making a plan to help her finish the semester. 💜

Edmund Muskie campaign milk glass mugs. Perfect condition. $45 for the pair

Vintage Woolrich advertising banner from the 1970s. 100% wool. Measures 57”x33” so it could also be used as a throw. Front side is a little faded from being hung in a store window. No stains or holes. $50

Recently I was tasked with fixing the mechanism of this Eames-style chair by Charlton. There was squeaking when reclining and the chair felt loose on its base. I searched everywhere for diagrams and after-market parts and found nothing. After some further investigating I realized that the reclining mechanism worked perfectly and all the issues seemed to originate with how the chair’s shaft was fitting into its base. Once I fixed that, the looseness and squeaking vanished. I made a four-part video of the process in case anyone runs into a similar situation.

It’s always a good day when a friend drops by with a bouquet of hydrangeas from her yard. Seriously, look how huge they are. Gorgeous!

The buds on our magnolia have been so big and ready to burst and today’s sunshine finally brought them out.

If Susan Collins is willing to act with such woeful ignorance as to deny peaceful protestors their first amendment right, then we have no reason to trust that she’s going to defend any of our other rights.

She’s been showing us who she is for years, it’s long past time we took action.
