Texas Fiber Gathering
A strong collective can provide resources for a circular economy from soil to fleece to table. The Sheepwalk Fiber Arts Studio was founded in 2007.
I am an artisan dyer located now in Bandera, TX, before in Costa Mesa, CA. My yarn is sold in several locations. Please visit the website for more details. I have over 300 formulas and do not mass produce colors. I love my craft!

Handcraft School – Phase Two
It’s time for the next chapter of the Texas Fiber Gathering, The Sheepwalk Ranch & Fiber Mill and The Wool Farmer tm.
We are developing an immersive internship program that bridges the gap between mill processing and traditional handcraft. Students will explore wool from raw fleece to finished product while gaining hands-on experience in both modern and heritage methods.
Ideal applicants will be pursuing studies in:
* Agriculture and fiber production
* Art history and ancient craft traditions
* Sustainable textiles and wool systems
* Related fields supporting the future of wool and fiber arts
As part of the program, each student will complete a project, research paper, or thesis-style presentation to be shared during the final week.
Additional details, qualifications, and application requirements will be released soon. Please wait for our official announcement before submitting inquiries, as we are not yet accepting applications.
We’re excited to share more as this program takes shape and to help cultivate the next generation of wool producers, makers, researchers, and innovators.
Applications will open in a future announcement. Stay tuned.

Texas isn't just a participant in the fiber industry; we are the powerhouse. Leading the nation in mohair production, our Angora goats thrive in the rugged terrain of the Edwards Plateau. Known as the "Diamond Fiber," Texas mohair is world-renowned for its incredible luster, durability, and ability to hold the rich, vibrant dyes that make our Western heritage so colorful.
While others look across the ocean for fine fabrics, the world looks to Texas for the highest-quality fleece. It’s a tradition of excellence that has been woven into the fabric of our state for generations.
Commissioner Sid Miller: “Texas mohair is the gold standard of natural fibers. It’s a testament to the grit of our ranchers and the unique spirit of the Texas Hill Country. This Valentine’s Day, there’s no better way to show your love than with something grown right here on Texas soil.”
Whether it’s a hand-woven blanket or a durable pair of socks, Texas mohair is a gift that lasts—just like a Texas sunset.

Why Texas Wool Week? We do not use a traditional vendor hall for this specific reason—Texas Wool Week is a farm-to-table experience that focuses on farm, fiber, and the arts, ranging from homesteading to makers.
While many festivals rely on vendor halls, we take a different approach. We use the real world as our venue, showcasing the best of our vendors and teachers through hands-on experiences, classes, farms, studios, and meaningful connections.
This approach keeps the focus on learning, storytelling, and authentic engagement rather than a single marketplace—and it’s what makes Texas Wool Week truly unique.

The club. They would not let me take photos of the lambs. Alpacas and llamas are very intuitive and smart.

Not sure where the soil went but definitely sure the wool is doing its job. Erosion is a fact even in potted gardens. Wool protects root systems.
