Lafayette Gilchrist & New Volcanoes live @ The Club Car tonight. Doors at 8pm

Happy Bandcamp Friday everyone. 30 years ago, an Atlanta band called Melts trekked out to Minneapolis to create what was to be their 1st album, Salicoutinäw. Recorded with legendary recording engineer Tim Mack Studios (who at the time had very recently recorded several tracks that appeared on the very 1st Morphius release!!). Tragically, though, the Melts this album was never released & the material seemed to be lost for 30 years.

Now back together playing again, Melts' release of this juggernaut 2xLP on Ltd Ed vinyl coincides with the 30 year anniversary of its inception.

“A powerhouse within the Atlanta music scene in the 90s, Melts created a fanbase through relentless touring and local shows, leaving their mark on the music world as a powerful, loud, slow & punishing live band."

Its members would go on to various other noteworthy musical ventures: Theo X on guitar & vocals (who formed Little Darlings), Andrew D. Barker on drums (who'd later form Gold Sparkle Band & join Kelly Hogan), & Jo on bass & vocals (who joined Kelly Hogan as well as Crooked Fingers).

The material is an outstanding cross section of sludge rock, metal, noise and art rock, highly recommended for fans of Harvey Milk, The Jesus Lizard, (the) Melvins , EYEHATEGOD , Sleep, COC, and High on Fire.

Official release date is May 31, but you can stream preview tracks or get it early from the link on digital or deluxe Ltd Ed Vinyl (2xLP).
