🇺🇸✈️ Flying through Washington, D.C. around July 4? You might want to double-check your flight 👀

Reagan National Airport (DCA) is scheduled to stop flights after noon on July 4 due to America 250 celebrations, including military flyovers, fireworks, and other aerial events.

And it’s not just July 4:
• Flight disruptions are also expected on July 3
• Additional flyovers and special events could impact flights throughout the summer
• Airlines are already adjusting schedules to work around planned airspace closures

The good news? This isn’t a surprise shutdown. Airlines and airports are planning ahead, but travelers should still keep an eye on their flight status.

A new program called TSA Gold+ would allow more airports to use private companies for security screening instead of relying entirely on federal TSA staff. 😳

Before anyone panics, here’s the important part:

• TSA would still set the security standards ✅
• TSA would still oversee operations ✅
• Airports would be able to bring in private investment and newer technology 💻
• The goal is faster screening, shorter lines, and fewer disruptions during government shutdowns ✈️

Right now, about 20 U.S. airports already use a version of this model, and TSA is looking to expand it through the new Gold+ program. Airports would be able to opt in based on their needs.

The big question: Would you feel comfortable going through security operated by a private company if TSA was still making the rules and providing oversight? 🤔

And honestly… between TSA lines, parking chaos, packed terminals, and random delays, getting there “just in time” is becoming a dangerous game.

Nothing ruins vacation mode faster than hearing your gate door close while you’re still in security 😭

Travel tip: summer travel is already getting hectic, so giving yourself extra time at the airport is 100% worth the peace of mind 👌

Travel reminder: if you’re carrying a LOT of cash through the airport… you NEED to declare it.

Customs officers at Philadelphia International Airport recently seized more than $44,000 from a passenger because it wasn’t reported 👀

A lot of travelers don’t realize this, but:
• You CAN travel with large amounts of cash
• BUT if it’s over $10,000, you legally have to declare it when entering or leaving the U.S.
• If you don’t? Customs can seize it on the spot 😬

And no… it doesn’t automatically mean the money is illegal. The issue is failing to report it.

Travel tip: always check customs rules before flying internationally because some mistakes can get VERY expensive ✈️

That’s actually happening right now — a Spanish airline is adding fuel surcharges to tickets that were already paid for 💸

Here’s the wild part:
• Passengers are being asked to pay extra just days before departure
• The fee is tied to rising fuel prices
• And if you don’t pay… you might not be able to fly 👀 

But here’s where it gets interesting…

Some versions of the policy even say you could get money back if prices drop… but let’s be real, that’s not what people are worried about 👀 

Translation: that “confirmed” price might not always be final anymore
