And just like that, our STEMcx summer internships have come to a close. πŸ₯ΉπŸ’™

We celebrated an incredible summer with our Closing Ceremony, where interns had the opportunity to showcase the projects, research, and work they spent the summer creating. From sharing what they learned to proudly presenting what they built, it was a chance for our students to see just how far they’ve come.

This summer was filled with new experiences, real-world STEM exposure, mentorship, friendships, challenges, and plenty of moments that reminded our interns: you belong in STEM. πŸ”¬πŸ’»πŸ©ΊπŸš€

We couldn’t be prouder of everything our interns accomplished and we know this is only the beginning.

Be the reason a young person believes they can do it too. πŸ€–βœ¨

At Robotics in the Morning Camp, students aren’t just building robots.

They’re building confidence, strengthening problem-solving skills, and discovering what they’re capable of creating.

Every lesson, challenge, and breakthrough helps shape the next generation of innovators.

POV: You're spending your summer building robots. πŸ€–πŸš€

At STEMcx Robotics Camp, students are designing, coding, testing, and solving real engineering challenges while discovering what a future in STEM can look like.

This is what happens when curiosity meets opportunity. πŸ’‘

Step inside the 3D printing lab our STEMcx students got an up-close look at how a digital design becomes a real, physical object πŸ§‘πŸ–¨οΈ

From a full-size World Cup trophy to detailed figures and functional parts, every piece on that table started as code and ended as something you can hold. Watching the Prusa printers build layer by layer turned "how does that even work?" into "I could make that" βš™οΈβœ¨

This is engineering you can touch and exactly the kind of hands-on access that turns curiosity into a career path.

Meet the newest member of the tour πŸ€–πŸ• our students got up close with a robot dog, one of the coolest things engineered on campus πŸ”§

Watching it walk, balance, and move on its own turned "what's possible in engineering?" into something they could see with their own eyes. Moments like this are how a spark becomes a career path βš™οΈβœ¨

Our Environmental Justice interns took on a genomics exercise inside NCCU's Mary Townes Science Building 🧬

At a historic HBCU built on science and service, our students explored how genetics ties directly to the environments and communities they come from β€” the foundation of real environmental justice work πŸŒπŸ’œ

Access changes everything. Days like this put it right in their hands.

Our STEMcx Healthcare & Inequities students spent the day getting a real taste of what a career in medicine and research looks like 🩺

The day was packed:
πŸ”¬ Campus tour + intro
πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ Two hands-on shadow sessions
🧬 A Fold-It protein tutorial
🍴 Lunch & Learn
πŸ§ͺ "Paths in Science" presentations from real researchers

More than a field trip, it's a front-row look at the careers they're working toward, and a step toward closing the gap in who gets access to them ✨

From Baltimore to Durham πŸ¦… our STEMcx students visited North Carolina Central University β€” and the history here runs deep.

Founded in 1910 by Dr. James E. Shepard, NCCU became the nation's first state-supported liberal arts college for African American students. At a time when public higher education across the South was closed to Black students, NCCU stood as a bold investment in Black excellence and education.

Today it's a respected HBCU within the UNC system, carrying forward its founding motto: "Truth and Service." πŸ’œ

For our students, this wasn't just a campus tour β€” it was a chance to walk through history and picture their own future in it ✨

🩺✨ While most students are spending their summer on vacation, our STEMcx interns are stepping inside the world of healthcare.

From learning alongside leading physicians to exploring one of the nation's top children's hospitals, these future healthcare leaders are gaining experiences that can't be found in a classroom.

Every question asked, every conversation shared, and every opportunity embraced brings them one step closer to becoming the next generation of doctors, surgeons, and innovators.

The future of healthcare is already here, and it's wearing a STEMcx badge. πŸ’™
