Tomorrow, 7/31! Please join us for this month's Pecha Kucha presentations with Gabriella Souza, María Gabriela Aldana Enríquez, and Sarah Magida!

Pecha Kucha is visual storytelling format where each presenter prepares and shares exactly 20 slides. The presentation is set to automatically advance every 20 seconds, ensuring a fun and fast-paced night of engaging talks. Get a glimpse into the past, current, and future musings of folks doing creative, inspiring, and unique work here in Baltimore!

Studio visit with Marian April Glebes last winter in preparation for her solo exhibition, which opens this Friday, July 31st at Current Space.

We loved getting to see what was working on then and we can't wait for you to see how well everything has come together now!

Here's a little more about what to expect next week –

will present on collective effervescence and choosing joy as an act of resistance. Collective effervescence is the term sociologist Émile Durkheim coined for the aliveness that pulses through a crowd moving, chanting, or dancing together. In this moment of democratic and societal fragility, it may be one of the most powerful tools we have.

will present on Queernesseseseses, a two-year project with Bmore Liberated to promote q***r joy and liberation while centering the project with BIPOC and immigrant youth in Baltimore, a partnership with Somos CASA.

And will present: PROTEST - why you need to get off your ass (do's and dont's of a protest).

Opening 7/31! Current Space is proud to present "Demolition by Neglect: Research and Residues," a solo exhibition by Marian April Glebes.

Working in drywall, joint compound, dust, and graphite and oil on paper salvaged from her own domestic spaces, Baltimore-based artist and preservation planner Marian April Glebes examines what it means to maintain–or fail to maintain–the places that house/shelter us.

Thank you! Together, we’ve raised $222 in June for Aida Youth Center through the Sunbird cocktail and $213 for CASA through F*ck Ice!

Aida Youth Center is a grassroots organization serving the community of Aida refugee camp since 1968. They organize programs for children and youth, provide direct aid, and advocate for the refugee community’s rights and needs.

We Are CASA provides critical services to immigrant and working-class families, and advocates for their rights.

In July, we’re raising money for Gaza Sunbirds Mutual Aid – a para-cycling team of amputee athletes delivering food, water, emergency supplies, and support and The Butterfly Fund – supporting local impacted immigrant families & individuals.
