SOWETO DAY 2026
Baltimore salutes the courageous students who rose up against the (since-defeated) apartheid system in South Africa.
On June 16, 1976, Black students rose up against the apartheid education system and compulsory Afrikaans language (the colonizer’s language!). What started as a peaceful protest was met with brutal police violence, sparking a wider uprising that became a turning point in South Africa’s freedom struggle.
Join us this Saturday, June 20 to honor both Soweto Day and Juneteenth, as well as to build the Cuba solidarity movement:

BALTIMORE — Emergency protest: NO WAR ON IRAN! STOP THE U.S. BOMBINGS!
The same government that is attacking our lives, livelihoods, and rights here at home is bombing water reservoirs in Iran.
🗓️ Friday, June 12, 2026
🕔 5:00 - 6:30 PM
📍 MLK Blvd. & W. Mulberry St.
On June 10, the Pentagon bombed Iran’s drinking water. U.S. strikes destroyed two water reservoirs in Sirik, a town in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province near the Strait of Hormuz. These reservoirs supplied drinking water to more than 20,000 people in 10 villages.
The strikes came during a heat wave, with temperatures in the region running between 113 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
This was no accident of targeting. On March 7, a U.S. strike hit a desalination plant on Qeshm Island, cutting off water to some 30 villages.
The people of Flint, MI have more in common with the people of Sirik than any of us do with Trump and his class.
We have to hit the streets and let them know: We stand against war and imperialism!

We joined the .us Third National Assembly and joined with over 400 members of over 60 organizations in the U.S. to commit to defeating imperialism. Part of that fight is to expose and oppose Big Tech, which profits from the death and destruction of working and oppressed people all over the world.
No tech for genocide!
