I am honored to have been interviewed for this article ❤️
Dog trainer shows incredible way she teaches deaf and blind rescue dogs — The Mirror People have been left stunned by the talents of the disabled dogs after trainer Amanda Fuller shared heart-warming clips on TikTok
A lot of people don’t understand how deafblind dogs can learn things and I always say, training is exactly the same, we just deliver our cue differently!
This is Elle, and her mom and I have been doing virtual lessons together. One thing Elle was struggling with was staying calm when people come in the house.
We introduced her to some place/mat work to give her a place to stay comfortably as people enter the home. This also gives a place to settle and be out from underfoot as needed.
Elle is deaf and blind and obviously understands very clearly what this touch cue means! Her hustle to her place is quite impressive ❤️❤️

A venture into dog sports with disabled dogs. This is something I’ve wanted to write about for a while, but have never been able to put all my thoughts together. Anyone who knows me, knows that I spend most of my free time training or trialing, I love dog sports, basically of all kinds. I’m fortunate to be in a location that gives me access...

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that our dogs are dogs and not robots.
Often times when I’m in clients homes helping them, they’re embarrassed of something their dog does. I assure them it’s fine and I’m not judging. Most often, what they’re doing is why I’m there to help anyway.
I just want to remind everyone that sometimes dogs do things that they “shouldn’t” and it happens to the best of us. Today, my puppy thought it would be fun to stand on the coffee table, why? Who knows. Instead of getting mad, I helped her down and gave her something appropriate to do.
