Inside is an idea and a space. It is simply a store where I have collected some of my favorite found and new objects and arranged them as I would in a home

I have dreamed about Inside both awake and asleep for many years and now it is a reality. It is simply a store where I have collected some of my favorite found and new objects and arranged them as I would in a home. A store where you can browse rooms of storied finds, one-of-kind objects, locally designed and made furniture, rescued art, art created in the mid-Atlantic region, unique indoor plants and garden supplies, useful and beautiful objects. Below are a few words which describe the ideas and principles
which guide my decisions. Recycled, Upcycled, Incycled, simple, soulful, storied, magical, modern, vintage, next, mid-century, beautiful, and affordable. Come visit my store and hear the stories and see the magic.

Shirley & Company - Shame, Shame, Shame [1974] Shirley & Company was an American disco group, consisting of Shirley Goodman (1936–2005), Jason Alvarez (now a pastor), Walter Morris, Bernadette Randle, Seldon Powell, Jonathan Williams, Kenny Jeremiah, and Clarence Oliver. They topped the U.S. Dance chart in 1975 with "Shame, Shame, Shame" (U.S. Pop #12), and did extremely well in Europe: the song reached #6 in the UK Singles Chart and #1 in Austria, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. The follow-up, "Cry Cry Cry", made it to #91 on the Hot 100 later that year. "Shame, Shame, Shame" was written and produced by Sylvia Robinson, who was a co-owner of the All Platinum record label. It was intended for All Platinum artist Donnie Elbert. It was Robinson who paired veteran blues vocalist Shirley Goodman with All Platinum artist Jesus Alvarez. songfacts.com: Donnie Elbert claimed that he originally wrote this song. According to Elbert, he took the song to England to get a record deal. When All Platinum heard what he was doing, they recorded some songs that Elbert had left behind in the studio (including this one) with a newly signed group called Shirley & Company. The argument was not resolved in Elbert's favor, and Sylvia Robinson remains the sole writer. The lead singer Shirley Goodman, was one half of the duo Shirley and Lee who had a mega hit 18 years earlier, in 1956, writing and recording the song "Let the Good Times Roll" for Aladdin Records. Jesus Alvarez changed his name to Jason Alvarez and became a pastor for the Love of Jesus Family Church. He recorded several gospel albums. In the 1970s, Sylvia Robinson and husband Joseph Robinson founded Sugar Hill Records. The company was named after the culturally rich Sugar Hill area of Harlem, an affluent African-American neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, known as a hub for artists and performers in the early and mid-1900s. The song "Rapper's Delight" (1979), performed by The Sugar Hill Gang, brought rap into the public music arena by attaining one of the first commercially successful hip hop songs and revolutionized the music industry by introducing rap, scratch, and breakdance. 10/21/2023
