Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, so we thought we’d feature wines from Mexico for this week’s free tasting! 🇲🇽🍷
Mexico boasts the oldest winery in the Americas and has the some of the longest viticultural history on the continent (1500s!). The perfect maritime, Mediterranean-style climate of the Baja peninsula has put Mexican wine on a lot of people’s radars recently, but the arid, high-elevation wines of other emerging regions are finally reaching export markets and wowing wine-lovers. And let’s face it - we’re going to be excited when we find out about a former Vega Sicilia winemaker producing wines in Coahuila!
Join us and between 5 and 8pm Friday to taste these truly cool bottles!

This Friday - this Good Friday - come taste Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio, or “Tears of Christ” of Vesuvius. Elizabeth is pouring a selection by Sorrentino Vesuvio, a new winery we’re working with! 🍷🇮🇹
Lacryma Christi is a crazy name for wine, right? The stories vary, some referencing the exceptional beauty of the Bay of Naples or a celestial fight between Christ and Lucifer. There are even some older stories involving Bacchus, the Roman god of wine.
Whatever the tale, the wines are delicious and the name is fitting for something that’s so daunting to make. After all, Mt. Vesuvius is the most dangerous volcano in Europe! The vineyards rely on soils left by the 79 AD eruption, which basically means we’re tasting Pompeii. 🌋
See you at the tasting bar, and happy Easter!
