If you haven’t witnessed the vibrance of the “Queernesseseseses” mural on the corner of N. Lakewood Avenue and Fayette Avenue, this is the perfect time to check it out!

Led by community artist Maria Gabriela Aldana, director of Art of Solidarity, and in partnership with Bmore Liberated, the 35-foot mural draws attention to the importance of q***r liberation and joy. Youth interns from YouthWorks Baltimore and We Are CASA were hired and trained in visual storytelling, work skills, environmental design, and mural paining. For many, this was their first paid job.

"Queernesseseseses" is the largest LGBTQ+ mural in Baltimore, and it's been nominated for Best Mural and Best Visual Artist in Baltimore magazine's 2026 Reader's Poll. Keep an eye out for the results this August!

Today we’re celebrating a different type of graduate.

The No Struggle No Success, NSNS Youth & Adult Reentry Second Chance Closing Ceremony recently honored youth and adult returning citizens who have successfully completed a transformative reentry and mentorship program. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the graduates’ resilience and successful reintegration into society.

This Baltimore nonprofit continues to make a difference by giving returning citizens the tools, guidance, and support needed to create new opportunities, reconnect with loved ones, and thrive in their communities.

For many, June is a time to celebrate Pride, and to support local organizations making a difference in the LGBTQ+ community.

BCF grantee AZIZA PECE Youth Programming uses after-school therapeutic programming that blends arts and culture as pathways to healing for Black and Hispanic youth, with dedicated support and programming for LGBTQ+ kids.

They recently partnered with licensed social workers to provide regular therapy sessions for more than 30 young people in a culturally affirming environment. Participants reported stronger emotional regulation, reduced stress, and deeper feelings of safety and support. For many of the youth, this was their first experience with consistent mental health care, and nearly all of them remained engaged throughout the school year.
