I love your suggestions!
Several of our wonderful customers and even a fellow vendor have asked if I would make a Game Pie. Its a excellent suggestion, but what game meat. I was finally able to source local venison from a farm in Dallastown, Pennsylvania and by the time the beautiful shoulder roast arrived I had a plan. I smoked the venison with hickory and oak for half a day and pulled the resulting tender venison off the bone, rough chopped it and made a sauce from the ample drippings. I folded the chopped meat into the delicious gravy and put the filling into a prebaked pie crust. I then topped the pie with our buttery parmesan mashed potato which I roasted until golden brown. You have to try it to believe it. Perfection! Hello Pot Pie Nation,
I am a very excited Chef Dad! First NFL Sunday of the season and I plan to enjoy the game with my new favorite pot pie, the Smoked Venison Cottage Pie. It is unbelievably delicious and can only be improved by a Ravens win.

I am so excited for you to try the new SMOKED VERSION COTTAGE PIE. The deer meat is rich, tender and outrageously delicious. The pie is generously topped with a buttery parmesan potato crust making it a “cottage pie”. Quick lesson, “shepherd” pies are made with lamb, everything else is a “cottage” pie.

Hey Pot Pie Nation,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!
I apologize for getting the market schedule out a little later this week, yesterday was Labor day and I observed the holiday to the letter of the law. I very much enjoyed the full day of relaxation, however, I was back making pies this morning, inspired to make a new pie to premier on Saturday, the Smoked Venison Cottage Pie. Many thanks to Will the steel artist in Sykesville for suggesting that I try making a game pie, smart kid! I was lucky enough to have the first bite of the freshly baked cottage pie, and it was as delicious as I had imagined. I am certain Pot Pie Nation is going to love it too.
