The "Overlap" opening was a wonderful success. Nearly 70 people joined artists Kini Collins, Shannon Cassidy, and Lyndie Vantine for an afternoon of art and conversation on Saturday, April 4. Not only did people come to admire the artists' talent, but they also came to purchase their work. Check out the red dots in these photographs. These artworks have found their way into a collector's heart and home. ❤️
There is more to come during this exhibition, including these events:
📖Book Launch: Cloud Shadows by Kini Collins, Saturday, 4/11, 3 pm
🎼Cover Birds Musical Performance: Saturday, 4/18, 3 - 5 pm

Overlap ... to cover and extend beyond; to coincide in part with; to have in common with.
Please join us at MAXgallery, Saturday, April 4, 2026, 2 - 5 pm, for the opening of the 3-artist show "Overlap," featuring works by Kini Collins, Lyndie Vantine, and Shannon Cassidy.
Cassidy explores the cumulative weight of trauma and the burdens we carry throughout our lives- those invisible forces we weave into the shadows that trail behind us, granting them a life of their own. Through the use of wood and clay forms accented by intricately woven wire, Cassidy gives physical presence to these intangible experiences, creating vessels that both contain and animate the human spirit.
Collins’s work is inspired by her novel Cloud Shadows. She portrays the mythological beings and the protagonist’s search for home using paper, ink, plaster, lemon juice, and fire. The launch of Cloud Shadows, including a reading and discussion, is planned for Saturday, 4/11 at 3pm in the gallery.
Vantine presents new interpretations on her use of 3D and relief forms as the underlying structure in landscape. Her interest is in what’s visible or invisible in form, and how those aspects influence the conformation of our geography. This work is based on travel in the Southwest and New England over the past few years, as well as regional meanderings in the Mid-Atlantic region.

We've been away for a while, but for good reason. MAXgallery has had a winter transformation — fresh paint on the walls and a new ceiling that completely changes how the light moves through the space. It feels like a blank canvas all over again, and that's exactly the energy we want to bring into our next season of shows. We're looking forward to welcoming both new and familiar artists into this renewed space. Stay tuned!

“UTOPIAN DREAMER,” a solo exhibition by Valerie Aleta Smith, will be on display at MAXgallery from November 2 to November 30, 2025! 🎉
The exhibition examines surrealist dream realms which blur reality and fantasy. Expect illogical scenes, strange juxtapositions, and unexpected transformations which are all drawn from the subconscious imagination. Viewers are challenged to question their reality with a peek into the artist’s dream fantasies. 🔮
Valerie incorporates her vivid dreams and journey as a female artist into colorful artworks that challenge societal norms. Whether on paper, canvas, wood, bottles or Vinyl LP record albums, she is very precise in conveying her messages. She hopes her viewers can interpret their own stories based on what they see through her artwork. 🪻

ℹ️: Chapters brings together the work of three artists whose practices span the stages of freedom, experimentation, and the poetic immersion of an artistic life. Judi Tenhunen’s vibrant watercolor and encaustic paintings embody a free spirit whose legacy continues to inspire. Alexander Foley removes stylistic boundaries, creating work that shifts between impressionism, expressionism, and conceptual exploration. David Cunningham transforms everyday objects into anchors of contemplation, offering sustenance and engagement through his multidisciplinary practice. Each artist contributes a chapter to this exhibition, weaving stories of exploration, determination, and meaning.
