It offends me that MD requires pistol instructor rating from an NRO (nationally recognized training organization - think NRA or USCCA) or being a Police instructor (not a police officer, but a police officer who trains other police officers) but the businesses that train the most people for the HQL and W&C classes have their students go 3.5 hours (of 4.0 hours for HQL) or 15.5 hours (of 16 hours for W&C) WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING A GUN.

This is ludicrous. You need to have met training standards from the organization that certified you as an instructor. Neither NRA nor USCCA nor Police Academy instructors are taught to only hand a gun to students for the qualifier shoot. Why would you even think that that practice is acceptable when teaching a MD class?

Every single one of my students practices clearing the chamber(s), safe transfer from person to person, dry fire techniques, etc... during the class and has demonstrated safe firearm handling multiple times during the classroom session before we move to the range. All those other "big box" ranges and trainers who do not do this are technically violating their QHIC or QHIL licenses by not adhering to the training standards tat allowed them to get their license to be a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor.

We have a few seats left for MD W&C class last weekend in August. Also, a few seats left for our mid-week (Tuesday & Wednesday) classes in August. We will be offering 2 Weekend classes and 1 Weekday class in September. After 6 weekends of training, going to take first weekend in September off, and the last weekend in September, I will be with BMore Tactical in OC, MD for the gunshow on the 23rd, 24th, & 25th.

If you want or need to purchase a firearm, let me know, Nick at BMore Tactical or Dave at Maryland Fi****ms can help you out. They are trying to change the culture in MD among FFL dealers that try to make $200 profit per gun. Both are happy to keep their prices reasonable and give you great service.

Visit www.topnotchfi****mstraining.com to sign up for a class and check out our Business Partners section to link to Maryland Fi****ms or Bmore Tactical websites.

As of today 7/5/2022, Governor Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Police to remove the 'good and substantial' (reason for wanting a carry permit). This opens up the MD carry permit to anyone with a clean criminal and mental health record.

Our classes are filling up fast, but we still have a few seats open for our July and early August classes. Please visit:
