PromiseCorps

PromiseCorps members work in five public schools in West Baltimore to facilitate individual assessments for chronically absent PK-12 students in order to provide referrals and supports. PromiseCorps members work with Community School Coordinators, MSW interns, and Baltimore City Public School teachers to assess students’ strengths and needs in four key areas: academics, family, health, and social-emotional. Then they create and implement a menu of global and individual attendance and school climate supports using a public health model: universal, targeted, and intensive. PromiseCorps is a Maryland AmeriCorps State funded program with Promise Heights (University of Maryland School of Social Work). Promise Heights is a US Department of Education Promise Neighborhood.
