Snow is coming down ❄️ and I want to give a huge shoutout to the amazing men and woman of Afscme Local 44 working all night to clear the streets of baltimore.

There's still a lot of work to be done, so city workers and all plow truck drivers, please keep your plows down at all times to help clear the roads faster. If you don't absolutely need to go out, please stay off the roads for everyone's safety. Drive safe and thank you again to our hardworking city crews!

Mayor signs union contracts, marking historic moment for Baltimore The deal provides double-digit pay increases and puts employees onto wage steps. The union went through a tense leadership controversy, and a runoff election for president of Local 44 will be held next month. The new contracts follow the deaths of two solid waste workers.

Today, November 19, the Baltimore City Board of Estimates approved our new contract. The next step is that the city will work on putting together our backpay and adjusting Workday.

In the coming weeks, the city has shared that they will create a hotline for paycheck concerns. In addition, we have provided the city with a spreadsheet of names and years of service dates where we have found discrepancies.

We are all eager for everyone’s hard earned pay raises to go into effect! As soon as we have more information, we will send it out.
