We didn’t let a little rain (okay a lot of rain) stop us from marking this milestone for Madeline who graduated from GWU Law School this May. Where better to do your DC law grad photos than the Supreme Court!? Congratulations Madeline! I know you will be amazing!
Don't miss your milestone because of photo-phobia! Let me help you get images you will love!

I’m always here for smart women doing smart things. Huge round of applause for this amazing lady who is graduating this month with a PhD in Education with a Mathematics specialty from Rutgers University! Congratulations Sarah! We know you are going to do great things!
Busy season kept me from enjoying the full lineup of Philly Fatcon this year, but I was so happy I was able to make it to the main convention day. The panels are always so inspiring and get me fired up to invigorate my business and continue to share my message that fat people are strong, powerful, smart and creative. I was also excited to run into a couple friends this year. Great to see you and ! Socks by Hot sauce by

I have much more to share with you from my Fall fashion shoot with "Curvy Josie's Fashion", but I wanted to use these bad ass images to make a point about light and also pushing comfort zones. If you book a session with me, you might hear me talk about finding "good light" or seeking out shade. That's because shade or filtered light is the most flattering light on our skin. Bright sunlight can be harsh. That's also why photographers seek out golden hour, or the softer sunlight right before sunset. But sometimes, it's really fun to step outside of that filtered light comfort zone and stand in the sun! That's exactly what I did for this series of pictures, and I adore the results! I put Josie in direct sun because I wanted to capture the full glory of that red tree which would have been washed out if I put her in the shade. I'm obsessed with the moody/contrasty and, appropriate-to-the-season witchieness of the these shots. I may not make the same choice for a close up shot where her face is more the point of the photo. But it works great in a drama shot like this. Also, for comparison, the images where the tree is a little more orange were taken with her in the shade. It totally changes the tone of the image. Still amazing though. Isn't photography fun!?

YAS is correct! The second part of Sonia's session was crazy fun and colorful and shot in Baltimore's Graffiti Alley.
Pro Tip, when shooting a busy, colorful background like murals or graffiti, wear a solid color so that you don't get lost in the background. In this case, Sonia's choice of a chartreuse jumper was brilliant!

Rachael & Ash chose to do their engagement session in the place where it all started for them. They spent their first date frolicking around the Eastern State Penitentiary. Say what? - That's what I said, but the Penitentiary is now an intriguing museum and the location of the charming Corinthian Gardens which is actually a great spot for a first date. Congrats to these two awesome people who will get hitched in October!

Sonia and I planned a neighborhood shoot for her headshots and I loved her bold color choices and, well, in general she was just a delight!
There is a super fun part 2 to this shoot which I can't wait to share!

I had the absolute pleasure of working with stylist Marlee from Style Me Slowly for this neighborhood shoot. Loving all the shades of blue and I'm obsessed with those pants. Check out her work and podcast and show her some love!
