Join us tomorrow for our Annual Engineering Design and Development Symposium! RSVP at https://forms.gle/rA4xkiPNDvczt4Wk9 - we hope to see you there!
Students in the Project Lead the Way Engineering pathway culminate 3-4 years of hard work with a Capstone project - tasked with creating a solution for a problem. At this event, they are sharing their solution and their design process.
We are seeking volunteers to evaluate posters and brief presentations from each team, if you can spare part of your day on Friday May 5th, from 10am until 2pm. All are welcome!

Patterson High School seniors Kayla and Z'iara present their design and prototype for LED masks at the Engineering Design and Development Symposium earlier this month. From their problem statement, "Children over the age of 2 years find it boring to wear masks to prevent the spread of a virus during a health crisis. Our solution involves using (LED’s) to offer a safe and fun way to motivate kids to want to wear a mask properly during a health crisis." Donzell Brown & Dempson Bennett from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute explain the motivation behind their capstone project: “In order to mitigate the wasted food and energy from our wasteful food production and sales process in the US, a composting plant is the solution we found to help reduce wasted food material and energy.”
Their PLTW - Project Lead The Way courses prepared them to identify this food waste challenge and create a solution using the engineering design process!

Western High School - Baltimore Senior Cami Urquhart with her poster at the EDD Symposium. Her project was an app that lets you see yourself in new outfits before you buy them called "Try-it Out." She and her twin sister Caleigh are attending Penn State in the fall!
The Baltimore City Public Schools Eighth Annual Engineering Design and Development Symposium took place Friday May 6th at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. In this PLTW - Project Lead The Way course, students had to create a solution to a problem on their own--some designed apps and others created prototypes. Their projects were evaluated by Engineers and industry/education/community partners.

Patterson High School seniors Mauwa and Idris are getting ready to show and talk about their prototype for smart door locks. From their problem statement, "Certain neighborhoods in Baltimore City are experiencing a lot of theft and home robberies. Most of these robberies involved breaking the door locks to access the home. Our solution involves using facial recognition as an added layer of protection to the mechanical door locks". PHS Clippers Baltimore City Public Schools PLTW - Project Lead The Way
