At Requity, learning to share your voice is just as important as learning a technical trade. Having someone like D. Watkins—a Baltimore City native, acclaimed author, and professor—sit down with our young leaders was a powerful moment. It is so vital for our students to hear directly from positive figures who come from the same neighborhoods and have walked similar paths.

He didn’t just talk about the mechanics of writing; he spoke about character, resilience, and the importance of owning your own narrative.

On May 21, we were honored to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Carolyn E. Fugett Intergenerational Center — a major moment for both the West Baltimore community and Requity Foundation.

During the event, Requity was recognized for our continued impact throughout the community, and we proudly announced our partnership as three of our workforce development programs move into this transformational new space. To make the day even more special, our Culinary Program took the lead on catering the event, giving our students another opportunity to showcase their talent and professionalism in a real-world setting.

This moment represented everything we stand for — opportunity, exposure, growth, and community. Grateful to and everyone involved for believing in our mission and investing in Baltimore’s future💙♻️

We’re incredibly thankful for their generous support and continued belief in the work we’re doing at Requity Foundation.
