DEAR MR. MEMORY: One lonely night in the mid 70’s when I was living alone in a little farmhouse in Dagsboro, Delaware, I decided to call some friends for company. All I got was – busy signals, numbers no longer in service, busy with the kids, in the middle of doing something with the wife—some had left town or passed away. I wrote this to express the existential blue loneliness and exaggerated a bit for effect. Sizzling solos from Paul Saroka on sax and Ron Turner on guitar and production; with me on vocals, piano, bass; Mike Kanter on drums; produced by Ron Turner. Dear Mr. Memory by Gordon Michaels existential blues with a dash of humor

When my friend Gary and I were the singers in Please, we used to smoke w**d and listen to 1920’s music a lot back in ‘71? ’72? when we lived on Pratt Street. I loved the optimistic, jaunty feeling of the music. Fast-forward to 2025 and the Albert project – I needed something uplifting after the chapter in which Albert’s wife and sons leave him – it was 1920-something—maybe early ‘30’s. It made sense to try my hand at a 20-ish kind of song about his new wife, Elsa: she did everything for him—even allowed him to see girlfriends…looks like Einstein was a Romeo!

The music videos play according to their order in the film—no narration. We also recorded a different piano intro figure for the title song—more suspension, more pensive.
