Director Rickey Bird Jr. recently sat down with Kern Magazine to talk about the story behind Kern Oil, the inspiration for the film, and why telling the story of Kern County’s oil industry matters.
In the interview, Rickey discusses growing up in an oilfield family, the personal journey that led to making the documentary, and the community that helped bring the film to life.
