I often say I meet some of the most interesting people on a Bicycle. Today was one of those days.
Today Terry and Al came in for a quick stop for a minor adjustment with his computer.
Terry’s is a Breast Cancer Survivor and her journey with it began in 2000 when she went in for a mammogram.
From 2001 to 2009, Terry was forced to endure multiple biopsies and ultrasounds, setting the stage for a life-changing event that would alter their lives forever.
In the fall of 2010, while awaiting the test results of yet another biopsy, Terry received a call from her doctor, confirming her worst fear, a diagnosis of breast cancer. Soon thereafter, Terry underwent a bilateral mastectomy.
From her discovery of breast cancer to treatment and beyond, Terry drew strength and stability from her husband Al, and her family, forging a path of perseverance and allowing her to endure the darkest of times.
Finding hope and conviction through faith and belief in their love for one another, Terry and Al found a way to withstand insurmountable challenges. Their courageous journey resulted in a secondary life-changing event.
A decision to take a road less traveled. A road that demanded newfound conviction, commitment, and courage. In 2015, Terry and Al created and launched the charitable organization now known as Pink Pedals 4 A Cure | Terry’s Ride in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to help find a cure.
It has been 16 years since her diagnosis. Today, Terry counts her blessings, lives her life one day at a time, and looks to the future.
In 2026, Terry and Al will once again willingly go forth, embarking on a new journey for the love of each other, those striving to survive, and the families of those in need.
Together, they will seek to provide sustenance and peace in a turbulent existence. Their goal, as always, is to create awareness and financial support to fund breast cancer research in an endeavor to find a cure.
Al Reszel is an avid bicyclist and outdoorsman, living with his wife, Terry, in Richmond, Minnesota. Al’s love of two wheels started many years ago. Short afternoon rides quickly became 50-to-100-mile rides each weekend.
In 2015, Al decided to honor Terry’s courageous journey, helping to create Pink Pedals 4 A Cure | Terry’s Ride in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to help find a cure.
That first year, Al completed a solo bicycle ride of over 500 miles from Afton, Minnesota, to Geneva, Illinois. Now nine years later, Al has criss-crossed the United States multiple times, traveling more than 28,250 miles and raising over $60,000+ for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Today Saturday, March 21st 2026 is day ONE of riding across the country for the 9th time for his Non Profit. He had a problem with his computer tracking the miles and his vitals. I was able to fix it and get him and his wife Terry on their way.
Before they left I gifted them a Breast Cancer Bicycle Pin for them to remember me. Al rides 90 Miles a Day for 20 Days, accompanied by his copilot Terry. May they encounter safe roads and enjoy this Ride on a Bicycle of life!

You never know who shows up at the Bike Shop. Today, I had the pleasure in meeting Gustavo Costa who is a Brazilian road cyclist, known for competing in national-level races and recently training for Ultra-Endurance events like the 2026 Race Across the West.
His career spans from 2009 to 2024, with notable performances in Brazilian stage races and a current focus on advocacy through sport.
Gustavo shared with me his involvement in Ultra-Endurance Cycling endeavors and is preparing for the June 2026 Race Across the West segmet, which is a 1,000-mile race from California to Colorado. His training includes long-distance rides like one to the Florida Keys. Today, he was going for go a spin on the GMR loop through Azusa.
He using Cycling for a cause to raise awareness and support for United Abolitionists, an anti-human trafficking organization. Besides his strengths in Road cycling, he is well known for Team Building.
We have a lot in common including Pin Trading! Who Knew????
He is also working on the LA28 Summer Olympic Games here in Los Angeles and not only in the sport of cycling, but he is involved in a crucial portion of the Olympic Games in determining who actually wins medals in all of the 36 Sporting events held in Los Angeles. I look forward in breaking bread and trading Pins with him in the near future.
