May is mental health awareness month. At NowHere we believe nature should be an integral part of our lives for mental health, physical wellbeing, and happiness. Come relax in our cabins, soak under the stars and explore the fields of wildflowers. Can’t wait to see ya out here.

"We can't eat the grass and vacant lots can't all be Starbucks or row houses, so I figured I should pick a lot and, “Put a Farm On It!”
is a service-disabled combat veteran, wife, and mother of 4 — and the founder of -kauvfarm. She is a land steward, dedicated to revitalizing city spaces through soil conservation and food production. Nancy grows produce using organic practices to sustain urban areas, and as a Veteran, becoming a farmer provides her the opportunity to continue public service to her local community. She has created an environment and lifestyle that brings value to her neighbors and the community in Austin.
-kauvfarm is raising funds to cover 1st quarter 2020 land lease and insurance payments, water costs, and an updated irrigation system. Funds will also support field labor, farm transportation, farm branding, installation of infrastructure: sheltered office space, security safety, shelving and lights for greenhouse production, a wash and pack area for food safety and sanitation, building materials for tables and drying racks, vegetable cooling tubs, cool storage, temperature control panels, field tools, poly-tunnels, small farm equipment, PPE, compost, soil amendments, and most importantly SEED!
Help fund the growth of -kauvfarm Austin’s only black-owned farm. Link in my profile to donate — DM a copy of your receipt to Dobbin-Kauv Farm’s and I will ship you a copy of either of the prints above.

Here’s Melvin, the owner and head chef of The Doughminican, a tiny food truck serving up insanely delicious empanadas over on East 11th and Waller. and I started working on spotlight for x back in January before we had any idea what the world would look like today. For The Doughminican, it looks more like takeout empanadas and platanos and less like patrons coming by for a leisurely visit to the food truck park where there is always a baseball & mitt to throw around while mangos and pineapples sit out on a music stand for practical decoration / storage. Melvin still takes breaks to play the trombone in between orders, now for many less onlookers. His mom Zoila is still keeping things running in the kitchen, both of them putting a little bit of their heart into everything they make. Link in my profile for more on The Doughminican.

A portrait of one of Austin’s finest empanadas, in the hands of my favorite hand model who also made her way into ’s tiny trailer kitchen back in January when she interviewed chef Melvin Mendez for & . Really excited to continue this series with as we start to figure out the new normal and what that looks like for small businesses serving up delicious pocket food. @ The Doughminican
