My little family
Daddy woulda been 67 today. This is birthday number 3 since he & mama passed. Tonight is a super duper harvest moon or whatever and it fu**in feels like it. I’m doin better now than I have in many many years, but today I miss him somethin fierce.
Dad was a really neat dude.
A lot of y’all were lucky enough to know he and mama and love them too. He’s been whispering and visiting again. I think it’s because I’m finally doin what he told me to. Giving it hell, at least.
Hug and call em while you get em, folks.

GRACIAS MAMACITA ISABEL
I miss both my folks, but gawddamn do I miss my momma. She wanted me to be a songwriter. Our joke used to be she loved Merle Haggard more than the rest of us. And she loved my songs, my voice: she was very proud of me and I will never stop missing her.
