Going out and doing shows again is a cocktail of inspiring flurry with a dash of nurturing but also anxious energy that lifts me up and also depletes me.

It’s been radically lovely to connect with old community and to know that I’m not invisible to this world. This feeling realization is also heartbreaking. It exposes how deeply disconnected I’ve felt from community since my shop closed.

One of my teachers - Ram Dass - tells a story about a woman grieving who comes to him one day and says, “I’ve finished. I’m done with the grieving.” In which he slightly smiled and said, “grieve more.”

I’m still grieving bead it space. It’s tender and painful and seeing folks out at these markets re-exposes that longing. Bittersweet as they say.

The layers of joy and sorrow peel back each time I dip my tippy toe back into this pool and I’m so grateful to be doing shows and holding some space with folks again.
