We rescheduled AFTER THE LIGHT LEAVES due to the weather this weekend. Join us now on March 22! 🎟 Use code CARE for $9 tickets (valid through 3/11).

Dance Waterloo invites you to After the Light Leaves — an improvisational dance performance unfolding at sunrise and sunset on March 22 at Festival Beach Food Forest.

is a community-grown edible forest garden on public land, cultivated through over a decade of collaboration to nourish, educate, and inspire. Spanning nearly 2.5 acres, it reconnects people with the land, their food, and one another through shared stewardship — and this performance takes place inside that living system.

Performing at sunrise and sunset, dancers explore a familiar rhythm: how life feels different depending on when we arrive. Light shifts, clocks tick, and attention moves with them. Morning and evening carry distinct ways of being present, each with its own pace and tone. Rather than a fixed story, audiences are invited to move through the forest together — noticing how time, light, and shared presence shape meaning.

Amplify Austin has officially wrapped. We did it, y’all 🎊

To our donors:
Thank you for believing in Dance Waterloo and investing in creative spaces that bring people together through movement.

To our artists and collaborators:
Thank you for the imagination, care, and dedication you bring to this work — in studios, classrooms, and community spaces across Austin.

To our community:
Thank you for watching, sharing, encouraging, and showing up. Your support makes it possible for this work to grow.

Amplify Austin is never the work of one person. It happens when artists, neighbors, and supporters each contribute their piece.

Together, you helped strengthen the foundation that allows Dance Waterloo to keep creating, teaching, and building community through dance.

We’re grateful to build this with you. 💛

$1,042 to go. 9 hours left.

A strong community doesn’t appear by accident. It’s built intentionally — by people who decide that the spaces we gather, create, and care for together are worth protecting.
Dance Waterloo exists because people believe Austin should be a city where creativity and community belong to everyone. Every rehearsal, class, and performance happens because individuals step forward and say: this matters.

Today we’re in the final stretch.

$1,042 stands between us and our Amplify Austin goal.

If Dance Waterloo has ever made you proud of this city, curious about dance, or reminded you how powerful community can be, this is the moment to help carry the work forward.

Give before the clock runs out.

Share the campaign with someone who believes in the arts.

Help us finish strong.

Let’s build this together.

Rehearsing outside helps me connect to the site immediately and make movement choices based on practicality and impulse as opposed to what something looks like in a mirror. It’s freeing, grounding, and joyful! -

I noticed the natural structures and pathways that nature provided and asked the dancers to generate phrases that would encourage them to weave in and out of these spaces. -

✨ In 2017, we held our first Wordplay LIVE! at Buzzmill. (Back then we actually called it Words With Waterloo). What began as a simple experiment has become something we return to again and again: a performance shaped by intuition, emotion, and the words you offer us. 💌

Each year feels like a love letter to connection. We listen, we respond, and we create something honest in the moment … movement, music, and visual art guided by curiosity and care. 🕊️💬

💛 Today is the LAST day to get tickets for only $8 with code WATERLOO.

🎟 Join us in person at

🌍 Or online via livestream, where you can submit words + receive the artwork by mail.

Wherever you are, you’re part of the story.

Here’s to the next chapter of Wordplay LIVE! 🥂✨

✨ Wordplay LIVE! returns December 3!

Step into an evening where movement, music, and visual art grow from one simple spark: a word offered by you. Like ideas passed between friends, your words become playful invitations, and we follow them with curiosity, generosity, and surprise. 🌱💬
