Something a lot of people don’t know about our district is the rich history of servant leaders who represented the seat - from Lyndon B. Johnson to J.J Pickle to - leaders fought for the same values we’re fighting for today: public education, health care, worker protections. As Republicans attack the very programs LBJ built and Rep, Pickle and Rep. Doggett defended, we’re reminded just how big and important this moment is. And Texas’ 10th Congressional District has a legacy we’re determined to reclaim.

This week was my daughter’s birthday.

She is five going on fifteen. She’s confident and has strong opinions about everything, including, lately, how I should be running the campaign. (She’s not wrong about all of it.)

Watching her blow out her candles, I felt something I feel a lot these days: gratitude and fear at the same time.

Because I know what world she’s growing up in. One where the rights I grew up assuming were settled are being rolled back. Where politicians are making decisions about women’s bodies, women’s healthcare, and women’s futures, and banking on us being too exhausted to fight back.

I’m not exhausted - I’m angry, and I’m running.

I’m running for my daughter. I’m running for every little girl in TX-10 who deserves to grow up with more rights than her mom had, not fewer. I’m running because I want those girls to know they can do and be anything they want, just like I could. And I’m running because someone has to go to Congress and actually fight this fight, so it might as well be me.

But I can’t do it alone. Volunteer, donate, host a meet and greet. Join us in this fight because the future belongs to our kids, not the politicians taking it backward.

Some people see a post about wiping Iran off the map and cheer.

As a veteran, I see body bags. I see flag-draped coffins. I see burned-out streets full of civilians who never chose this fight.

We’ve been here before.

The White House will call it strength. They’ll wrap it in patriotism. But I remember how the War on Terror started. The unclear missions, no end in sight, the same young people being sent to carry the heaviest burden.

This is the flesh and blood of Americans, of Texans, of sons and daughters from our towns being sent to fight and die overseas. Cadets at Texas A&M who will lead those troops.

Promising that a “whole civilization will die” doesn’t just mean military targets. It means kids, their moms and dads, their brothers and sisters, who will die without ever understanding why. And every civilian death is another generation that will grow up seeing America not as a force for stability but as the reason their world burned.

We’ve spent billions in Iran. Americans’ wallets are suffering here at home. And still, there’s no clear objective, no strategy, no honest reporting that comes close to matching the cost.

In Congress, I’ll hold leaders accountable. Every military action must serve a defined national interest. Every life, every dollar, must be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

When asked about federal support for childcare, Donald Trump recently said “it’s not possible for us to take care of daycare” and suggested childcare - along with Medicare and Medicaid - should be left to the states because the U.S. is “fighting wars.”

But here in Texas, we already know Governor Abbott and the legislature aren’t going to ride in on a white horse and fix this. They’ve made that clear.

Congress decides what we fund. Congress sets the priorities. And right now we’re pouring billions into military escalation with Iran while the costs and objectives remain unclear.

In other words: Congress is choosing everything but families.

As a mom, I’ve lived the childcare struggle: the scramble to find care that doesn’t eat up your whole paycheck, the impossible balancing act between work and family, the constant calls: your child has a fever, threw up, has lice. It’s exhausting, and it shouldn’t be this hard.

Families across my district, across Texas, and across the country need relief. Congress can deliver it.

Here’s what I’ll support in Congress:
• Expand Child Care and Development Block Grants to make childcare affordable
• Raise the Child Tax Credit so it keeps up with the real cost of raising kids
• Pay childcare workers a livable wage with benefits
• Invest in universal pre-K and Head Start

We always find the money for war.
We can find it for families.

Congress just has to decide that families matter.

Team Rourk had the chance to participate in No Kings rallies across CD10 and saw what people-powered organizing looks like. We met vets upset about the Iran War, community members concerned about data centers, folks who’d never dreamed of going to a protest, and so many other neighbors who stood tall on Saturday. I couldn’t be prouder of our communities for showing up and speaking out.

Great to join B/CS Chamber of Commerce for Chamber Day. The Chamber does incredible work for Brazos County businesses, including advocacy in DC and Austin. But it starts with listening. We spent the day hearing directly from business owners and workers across restaurants, retail, healthcare, and more. Businesses aren’t one-size-fits-all, and the Chamber leads by listening, through a model rooted in inclusion and collaboration - a model I’ll carry with me to Congress.

Seven years ago, my son made me a mom, and it changed how I see the work we do in this world.

I think a lot about the kind of country I hope he and every other kid gets to live in: one grounded in decency and respect, where kids feel safe and valued, where they have a fair shot to get ahead, and where their parents have the support they need. That’s the country I care about building.

But today, I’ll be celebrating seven years of this awesome kid and getting nostalgic scrolling through baby photos and trying to figure out how the heck he got so big.

Americans are fed up with gridlock. They want results, not endless arguing. They want leaders who roll up their sleeves and actually get things done.

The recent bipartisan housing bill that passed the Senate proves it’s possible: bold, progressive ideas that make housing more affordable won support across the aisle. This is Congress working as it should by delivering meaningful change instead of partisan theater. I applaud and for their leadership on this bill.

We know what keeps people up at night, and we’re ready to tackle it head-on by delivering an agenda that gets results. Bold ideas are only half the battle; the real victories come when we turn them into change.
