Richard Overton was a supercentenarian and the oldest verified surviving U.S. World War II veteran who was later honored by President Obama. Even as East Austin went through many changes in the past few decades, Mr. Overton remained a neighborhood staple (and still remains so with this beautiful tribute as part of the mural).
