Here's the latest update on positive Rabies cases in our area....these are in areas I frequent with my own dogs....please remember to keep your Rabies vaccinations for your pets current:
Thus far in 2015 Travis County has reported two laboratory-confirmed terrestrial mammal rabies cases from the southwestern part of the county. The first case occurred in February in a skunk that died of the South Central Skunk strain. The skunk was located south of the intersection of Mopac Expressway and Highway 290.
A second case occurred in early May in a RACCOON in the Hamilton Pool Road area. Tests are ongoing to determine the rabies strain that infected the RACCOON.

An important topic that could severely limit mobile veterinarians:
Drugs and Law Breaking Veterinary Doctors | petMD Veterinarians need your help; many of them are currently on the lam from the DEA. They’re breaking the law but have decided that it is in their patients’ best interests to continue to do so.

How to Know when It's Time to Euthanize Your Pet Just last week, while I was performing euthanasia for a critically ill patient, the pet's owner looked at me and said, "I bet this is the hardest part of your job." That gave me pause.

I would like to announce the opening of my own mobile practice, Austin Dog Doctor. The owner of the practice I worked for previously, Vet to Pet Mobile Vet, was forced to close due to her extended health issues.
I will be working with Jill Johnson, previously the office manager and veterinary technician at Caring Hands.
We will be serving mobile clients in the greater Lakeway/BeeCave/Spicewood/Dripping Springs area, and more.
Austin Dog Doctor Mobile Veterinary services serving Lakeway, BeeCave, Dripping Springs, and more. Dr. Carolyn Canizaro-Orlowsky previously worked at Caring Hands Animal Hospital and Vet to Pet Mobile Vet before starting her own practice.
