Collaboration with other artists has been defining feature of Lemoncello’s creativity thus far.
Lemoncello is the collaborative project of Irish songwriter Laura Quirke and cellist Claire Kinsella, nominated as ‘Best Emerging Folk Act’ in the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards 2019. The pair started playing music together while at University, where they bonded over musical intricacies; close vocal harmonies, humour and vulnerability in lyric writing. Their debut EP ‘Stuck Upon the Staircase’ was released in 2018, deemed by The Irish Times as ‘baroque folk good for the head and heart’ and The Thin Air as ‘cello, guitar and interweaving vocal motifs marrying in exquisite fashion’. Their performances, described by The Journal of Music as ‘ramshackle and sassy’, saw Lemoncello touring extensively in Ireland and abroad, most notably Other Voices, CCI, Paris and Irish Arts Centre, NYC, as well as appearing on national Irish & UK television and radio. They have worked and shared stages with many inspiring artists, including , Alannah Thornburgh (Alfi), Myles O’ Reilly (Arbutus Yarns), Lisa O' Neill, Sam Amidon, David Keenan, Anna Mieke, Junior Brother, Sam Amidon, Mick Flannery and poet, Stephen James Smith.
2020 sees Lemoncello releasing their anticipated second EP, ‘Oil and Water’.

It’s also about how difficult it is for us to talk about our feelings and how strangely these things feel connected. We’re one of the many bands to have been supported by Glen’s generosity. This photo paints some of that picture, opening for his show in Footsbarn on the Di**le Peninsula as he watches in the wings. When we opened for him on his 2023 tour, before we went on he used to come out on stage to play a song just to get the rowdy crowd quiet and listening, and then give us a warm introduction. It’s pretty rare to find someone of his calibre and talent to be so selfless and supportive of new and up and coming acts. Words fail at times like these but our thoughts and love are with his family & close friends that are undoubtedly at a loss at this devastating news 💔
