🚨 Help us find Frisco! When it rains, it pours… on Sunday, January 7 at 6:30am, Frisco was taken off campus by a person who was not authorized to do so. We have taken every measure to locate him by searching the grounds, posting to lost and found pages, distributing flyers, and alerting other local shelters.

Frisco is a friendly 8-month-old male lab mix and weighs about 50 pounds. He’s microchipped. If you spot him, please contact us at (512) 961-6519 or email [email protected].

Meet Trainers, the sweetest and most chill girl you'll ever meet! She adores belly rubs and will melt your heart when she flops over for some affection. When she's not enjoying belly rubs, she's right by her humans' side, hoping for a brush or a gently flowing faucet - Trainers loves drinking from faucets and would probably adore a cat fountain too!

Trainers came to APA! when her previous family discovered she had diabetes, and they wanted to ensure she received the best care possible. Fortunately, APA! found her a loving foster home, and she's thriving there! Her foster mom says Trainers doesn't even flinch when it's time for her insulin shot, which is a testament to her sweet nature.

If you're on the lookout for a fluffy feline sidekick who will steal your heart, Trainers is your girl! Adopt her today and let her bring joy and warmth into your home.

Help us spread the word about Trainers by sharing this post with your friends and fellow cat lovers. Together, we can find her the perfect forever home!

❗️UPDATE: Our van has been located! Thank you to everyone who shared the post, searched, and emailed/commented about the van’s whereabouts. Unfortunately, the van is not drivable and will need to be towed. It seems that the van stalled out on the person who stole it. We’re not sure if it stalled because the person potentially filled it with diesel or because it was driven through the gate. Again, we are beyond grateful to our community for the ongoing support, today and always. THANK YOU!

____

This morning, at approximately 3:55 AM, someone stole an APA! transport van from our downtown shelter location, then smashed through the locked gate it sat behind to make their escape.

We've filed a police report and have contacted local media, but are also asking for the community’s help to retrieve the van. If you have seen it anytime today, please email [email protected] as soon as possible.

The van is bright yellow and orange with APA! logos. The transport van has been responsible for transporting and saving thousands of pets’ lives, and it is vital to our efforts.

In addition to asking for help with van sightings, we're also asking for fundraising support. While the van is insured, we'll need help repairing our gate, and will also need to hire security while waiting for the gate repairs. Finally, we'll need to rent a van to use for transports while working to recover our stolen vehicle; we won't let these animals down simply because of this crime. We estimate around $25,000 will be needed. Can you donate to support these needs?

The situation is developing rapidly, and we are looking for more information. We have attached photos of the van, the damage, and the suspect in question.

Today is National Cuddle Day! If y'all don't look like this you're doing it wrong! And Congratulations to Sundae, who gave us her very best on the cuddling front, she's in her adoptive home with her new family!

"Let's Snuggle! Snuggling my favorite!" That's how Punkin feels about every day. This sweet little lady purrs at the sight of people and hopes that you'll let her stretch her tiny paws up onto your stomach. Punkin is great with kitties, and kids, anyone who wants to be her friend works for her! When she isn't busy trying to snuggle up with you, she's happy to snack on churus. She'll lick them right off your finger, it's adorable.

Punkin was born with Manx syndrome which means that she needs some help going to the bathroom. Her foster mom has a great routine for her, and is happy to teach you the ropes. Incontinent kitties are often overlooked as they are viewed as too much work and messy. With a proper routine, incontinent kitties thrive and their humans build an unshakeable bond with them through the daily care routine.

APA! provides medical care for 60 days post adoption until adopters feel comfortable with their care routine. With a little help, anyone can care for an incontinent kitty! We also have a closed Facebook group for our incontinent kitty fosters and adopters that is incredibly supportive, helpful and a great resource - they also help with finding sitters when you are out of town!

Introducing Got a Minute: Meet the Pets! Hear about really great animals from the people that love them the most.

For here's King Triton who has been living his best life in foster! His biggest struggle is being home alone and luckily landed with a foster who's mostly home and a team of volunteers (who will follow him to adoption!) that make sure his needs are met.

KT is loved and loves with full hearts. Consider giving a long stay senior dog a chance! The support, skills and knowledge are pretty out of this world.

This pathetic face is brought to you by Reece.

Reece arrived at APA! already a skinny little girl and despite multiple tests, we can't figure out why she can't gain weight. Our next step is to get her to foster for closer monitoring and medical support from our clinic.

Reece is full of pep and fun! She loves food (even though it's not sticking with her) and is ready to be feeling her best.

Email [email protected] to provide a soft bed and be an advocate for a dog that needs you most.

Stratosphere Stretcher is so adorable she stretches the upper boundaries of cuteness! 🚀 She's a spirited little girl and loves any toy you give her, though wand toys are her favorite. She is curious but can also keep herself entertained.

Strat came to APA! with a wobbly walk and has been diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). This makes her wobbly and unsteady on her paws but she is THRIVING in her foster home. She has no problem getting where she is going, it just might involve a couple tumbles along the way!

Tumbling is absolutely normal to her, and she just keeps going. It definitely doesn't stop her from doing anything a kitten without CH could do.

Check her other videos out to see this amazing cat in action! https://bit.ly/41LuZEs

Gameboy is the ultimate cuddlebug! He is obsessed with receiving head scratches and snuggling with his favorite humans. He prefers chilling on the couch and asking for affection rather than chasing a ball or jumping up and down - he's widely regarded as "the cool cat on the block."

His ideal home is somewhere calm and peaceful.

As we step into the fresh beginnings of 2024, we want to take a moment to extend our deepest gratitude for your support during the recent pawliday season. Your generosity has not only warmed our hearts but has also made a profound difference in the lives of countless furry friends like Daddy Daycare.

Living in a room full of kittens in our ringworm center, Daddy Daycare does more than just coexist with these tiny bundles of energy. He cares for them, plays with them, cleans their fur, and watches over their antics with a patient and loving gaze. His sweet “tail” is just one of many you made possible this pawliday season, and for that we are so grateful.

Thanks to the kindness of over 1500 donors like you, we're thrilled to announce that we've raised more than $342,923! This incredible accomplishment ensures that Daddy Daycare and the other pets in our care will get everything they need — medical attention, a nurturing environment, so much love, and more — so they can have the lives they deserve.

Your generosity has sparked a ripple effect of kindness that extends far beyond the pawliday season. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Here you see the potential of Mr. Brown! He had such a blast exploring, getting his yayas out and even a pup cup.

Mr. Brown came to APA! from Austin Animal Center due to his compulsive chewing of his tail. He can't seem to stop, despite treatment, distractions and a big ole cone. What he actually needs is to decompress from the shelter and help us figure out the physical and emotional cause of tail chewing.

Can you help a dog out? A comfy home and the full support of our behavior and medical team is what Mr. Brown needs and what only a foster can provide!
Email [email protected] to see Mr. Brown is a good fit for you!

‼️ Your gift can help us reach our 2023 fundraising goal! We're only 64% to our end of year fundraising goal and today is the LAST CHANCE to make it happen.

For the next 12 hours, your donation will go THREE TIMES further thanks to two generous matches: $15K by an anonymous donor dedicated to supporting our dogs’ medical care and $7K from our fur-iends at Bloom Bioscience for Pets! That’s $22K in triple matches that will make three times the impact for pets like Blizzard.

Blizzard was transferred to APA! from Austin Animal Center after he was found alone on the side of the road, unable to stand. Blizzard has severe arthritis and spondylosis, a degenerative condition that affects the vertebral bones of the spine.

Blizzard’s treatment plan includes pain medication and anti-inflammatories to keep this oh-so-sweet gentle giant comfortable. Providing medical care like this is expensive, but we believe that pets like Blizzard deserve a second chance.

This triple match is a powerful way to ensure more pets like Blizzard receive the care they desperately need. Will you donate now to help fund crucial medical treatments and the ongoing care that gives pets the second chance they deserve?

Our Story

Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping to Keep Austin No Kill. Since 2008, APA! has saved over 60,000 dogs and cats from being killed at Central Texas shelters.

Comments seen as unlawful, obscene, spam or otherwise offensive will be removed. Page is maintained by APA! staff and volunteers.

Prior to 2008 when APA! started rescuing and adopting cats and dogs, 50%, or 14,000 of the animals entering the city’s shelter were euthanized. APA! examined the gaps in existing lifesaving efforts and found there were groups of animals for which life-saving programs did not exist. APA! created programs targeting the groups of animals facing certain euthanasia. These programs lead to a measurable impact on the community’s save rate – and Austin’s status as the largest No-Kill City in the Nation.

Through our innovative programs Austin has become the largest No-Kill city in the United States. Since our inception, we have found that almost every large city in the US has the same gaps as existed in Austin in 2008. We are now a model for communities nationwide, and through our American Pets Alive! program we train other communities on how to create and manage the same lifesaving programs so that ultimately no pets have to die unnecessarily in America.
